Vince Sells RAW

On tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw, Vince McMahon announced that he has sold Monday Night RAW to a mystery buyer.  He would not tell the audience who the “buyer” was right away, but he would tell everyone after the WWE Championship title situation was sorted out later in the show.

Randy Orton took home the HW strap in a four-way match with John Cena, Big Show and HHH.  The mysterious buyer of RAW turned out to be… Donald Trump.  Yes, that is not a joke.  Donald Trump is now a part of the WWE as the “sole owner of the WWE”.

It is highly doubtful this angle will last long since Donald Trump is not a full-time performer.  We’ll see where this will takes the WWE.  The announcement was disappointing as I was hoping for someone with a wrestling history (Paul Heyman maybe?) was taking over for awhile.

A New Champ Crowned

The WWE crowned a new WWE Champion to replace the injured Batista.  Randy Orton became the WWE Champion for the 5th time in a Fatal Four-Way match against HHH, John Cena, and the Big Show.  Orton pinned the Big Show after hitting the RKO for the pin.

Big Show was the shining star in this match.  He hit many big spots including a beautiful spear.  He was pinned in the end but only after a pedigree, a “Attitude Adjuster”, and a “RKO”.

Further Umaga Release Details

According to WrestlingInc.com Umaga was released by the WWE because of a second violation of the WWE substance policy.  The WWE usually has a 3 strike policy with the violations of the wellness policy.  The reason why he was released was he refused rehab.  This is the second time a WWE Superstar was released because of refusal to seek rehab.  Jeff Hardy had the same fate year ago before his current run with the WWE.

It is hard to blame the WWE for releasing people who are unwilling to help themselves.  The WWE cannot force people into rehab.  Umaga (Eddie Fatu) is part of a large wrestling family who will hopefully help him get straight.

Vickie Guerrero Leaves WWE

Former Raw General Manager Vickie Guerrero has given her notice to the WWE.  She announced yesterday on RAW that she was quitting her job on the show.  Edge then came out and asked for a divorce.  This tied up all loose ends and left the door open for her departure.

From what I have heard from a few sources, she will be leaving to spend more time with her daughters.  The WWE removed her profile on wwe.com this afternoon at the same time as Umaga’s profile.

From a fans perspective I am happy to see the end of the Vickie Guerrero era.  She annoyed the hell out of me every time she was on TV.  It seemed like she was reading her lines and her facial expressions drove me crazy.  With that being said, she did her job perfectly then.  She was always a heel, so her job was to make me hate her.  Well done!

Umaga Released by WWE

The WWE released today on it’s official website that they have come to terms with Umaga on his release.

World Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of SmackDown Superstar Umaga as of today, June 8, 2009. WWE wishes Umaga the best in all future endeavors.

Umaga recently lost in a four corners match to CM Punk at last week’s Extreme Rules PPV.  Umaga entered the WWE along with his handler Armando Estrada.  That was easily his biggest push in the WWE.  The WWE creative had problems creating storylines for the “out of control” Samoan.

Batista Out Again

WWE Superstar Batista apparently needs to go under the knife again.  After returning earlier this year from a lengthy quadriceps injury, Batista is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday for a torn bicep.

For those who watch the WWE Extreme Rules PPV last night, you were likely shocked by the shortness of the cage match between Randy Orton and Batista.  This is almost 100% likely because of the injury.  Batista is pure power and would not be able to put on a lengthy match without the use of both guns.

Look for the WWE Title to change hands tonight on Raw in another short match.  Could this also mean HHH’s return since the WWE was planning on a babyface carrying the title.  We’ll see…

WWE Extreme Rules Results

The WWE PPV Extreme rules saw 4 major title changes and one unmasking (sort of).

The WWE World Heavyweight championship changed hand twice in the same PPV.  First the main event of the evening saw Jeff Hardy defeat Edge in a ladder match.  Before anyone could celebrate CM Punk cashed in his “Money in the Bank” briefcase (won a WM25) to pin Hardy and become the new World Heavyweight champ.  That “Money in the Bank” Briefcase is one of the best inventions in modern pro wrestling.  It sure keeps things exciting.

Chris Jericho took home the Intercontinental championship with a victory over Rey Mysterio Jr.  Mysterio was unmasked during the match but he covered up before anyone could get a look at his face.  Last time Mysterio took the mask off he wasn’t allowed back into Mexico so it is doubtful you will see him without it on again.

Batista defeated Randy Orton is a quick steel cage match.  WrestlingInc is reporting that Batista will have surgery on a torn bicep this Tuesday so… watch Raw tonight if you like to see potential title changes.

Tommy Dreamer defeated Jack Swagger to win the ECW championship.  This is Dreamer’s final run so it was a classy move to put the strap on him.  He is one of the fathers of the originals ECdubs so he deserved to go out with the belt.

All together the WWE put on a good PPV.  The Cena vs. Big Show match went on entirely too long but I am sure the WWE had it’s reasons because of injuries in other match.  Cena defeated Big Show by tap out.

Official WWE Results:

- Jeff Hardy def. Edge; CM Punk cashes in Money in the Bank to become new World Heavyweight Champion
- Batista def. Randy Orton in Steel Cage Match (New WWE Champion)
- Tommy Dreamer def. Christian & Jack Swagger in Triple Threat Hardcore Rules Match (New ECW Champion)
- Chris Jericho def. Rey Mysterio in No Holds Barred Match (New Intercontinental Champion)
- John Cena def. Big Show (Submission Match)
- CM Punk def. Umaga (Samoan Strap Match)
- Santina Marella def. Vickie Guerrero in Hog Pen Match (New Miss WrestleMania)
- United States Champion Kofi Kingston wins Fatal Four Way Match

The Masterpiece Returns

The WWE has re-signed “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters.  Masters (Chris Mordetzky) was said to have a private meeting with Vince Mcmahon in the past couple of weeks which led to his re-signing.

The interesting part of the re-signing is that Masters was released in 2007 because of a second violation of the WWE Wellness policy. The WWE has a 3 strikes policy regarding violations so one more violation will lead to a termination.

Look to see Masters on WWE TV in the next couple of weeks.  He has experience with the company and is already familiar with the politics.  I could see him on Raw or Smackdown! as early as next week.

Mr. Kennedy Released

WWE has released the often injured Mr. Kennedy.  Mr. Kennedy made his return on Monday Night Raw this past Monday.  The Internet rumor sites claimed he injured his elbow in that match.

The official website of Mr. Kennedy had this comment on Sunday.

“Ken is physically 100 percent healthy, and very optimistic about his future in the business. More details will follow.”

I do hope he appear either in the WWE in the future or in TNA.  Kennedy is one of the most charismatic superstars to come along in a while.  With the lack of on mic talent right now in the WWE, this will be a huge loss.  If Kennedy could just stay healthy, he could still be a top draw in any fed around the world.

With the double-booking of Denver’s Pepsi Center Monday night, WWE is heading to Hollywood. Monday Night Raw will take place in Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center live on Memorial Day.

The management in Denver double booked this Monday night’s show with the Game 4 of the Denver Nuggets playoff series.  The WWE brass apparently is not at all happy with the development and are looking to parity the situation on this week’s RAW.  The WWE has a rep for taking their parodies to the extreme so it will be worth tuning in for.

The WWE is also selling a big “playoff” match on their website  wwe.com).

“Live on Raw from Los Angeles’ STAPLES Center, WWE presents its answer to the Lakers vs. the Denver Nuggets. WWE Champion Randy Orton, Legacy, The Miz & Big Show face U.S. Champion MVP, Batista, John Cena, Jerry Lawler & a fifth “player.”

This match will attract the rush ticket sales that will be needed to fill the STAPLES center on such short notice.  If the event doesn’t match Denver’s sales then a lawsuit could follow.
