Randy Orton won last night’s Royal Rumble PPV. The win give Orton the opportunity to wrestle for the WWE title at Wrestlemania in February. The only question is whether Vince Mcmahon will stop him due to the concussion he received from Randy Orton last week. The WWE better not drop the ball on this angle!

WWE developmental talent Hade Vansen has been released by the company. He was the person in those creepy videos a few weeks back designed to start a feud with the Undertaker. His storyline was cut after the promos and apparently his Smackdown debut is not going to happen.

According to WrestlingInc.com Matt Cappotelli has been released by the WWE. Matt won a contract throught the WWE reality show Tough Enough. He was working in OVW when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.
The WWE needs to watch their own show. If they watched the Stone Cold Steve Austin vignette on Raw, they would know exactly why they are falling rapidly. They would know why they are losing record fans and business is bad.
The Stone Cold vignette rushed back the feeling of how truly great the Attitiude Era was and how truly bad the current product is. I will refer to this era as the No-Attitude era. The average wrestling fan does not want to see the kid friendly crap they are peddling to satisfy the shareholders. The average wrestling fan wants to see solid wrestling, edgy entertainment, and some defiance. That also includes the kids.
Take out or rent an attitude DVD or VHS tape and you will see the instant difference when any of the talent opens his mouth. Stone Cold sounded like he meant every word that came out of his mouth. He delivered his words with spit flying and not sounding like he is reading a script. In the current No-Attitude era every single star (besides the ones who were around in the attitude era) sound like a Hollywood actor reading a line. ”I am Randy Orton. I am a robot. I can put my arm back on but you can’t, so play safe kids.”
I watched Randy Orton a week back at a house show. He messed with the crowd and wrestled an excellent match. I though to myself, that is how he should be on TV. He was natural and really pissed of the crowd. He had the attitude… continued next week.
Sci-Fi has released it’s TV schedule for January of 2009 and ECW is on the schedule for Tuesdays in January. This could means that the network has extended or plans to extend it’s contract with WWE. The contract was to expire in December 2008.
The WWE has released over 60 employees in an effort to cut expenses in these hard economic times. Many were on air talent that I personally have enjoyed watching for a long time.

In the latest effort to cut upto $20 million from WWE’s budget
, there were massive layoffs this week in Stanford, Connecticut. In a press release issued this week regarding the layoffs, Linda McMahon explained the layoffs (or as she called them, “efficiencies”) would help WWE in the longterm by putting htem in a “stronger, more flexible position.”
Here’s an updated list of this week’s casualties:
- 10% of WWE’s 600 person office staff, including several longtime managers as well as members of WWE’s television production
and WWE.com divisions.
- Superstars D-Lo Brown, Bam Neely, Val Venis and Kevin Fertig.
- Agent and former referee Tim White
- Referees Jimmy Korderas, Mike Posey and Kevin Keenan
- Developmental stars Gavin Spears and Mike Kruel
- Vince McMahon’s 2 limo drivers
Dave Batista has updated his website. He states that he has about six weeks before he can start rehabbing his leg following his hamstring repair surgery.
The initial diagnosis for the serious leg injury was at least 6 month minimum until he could return to the ring.
Batista was “punted” by Randy Orton in the head to sell his off time. This will lead to a feud between the former revolution members upon Batista’s return.
